Device Colours
Use without photography
The brand device can be used in a selection of different colour combinations using our primary and secondary brand colours. The device elements must only be used in the colour combinations outlined below.
Note:
- The colour options are preset within the device asset downloads (for print and digital) and should not be altered.
- The colour for the solid device within each combo is slightly different for digital use and should be used as supplied.
Combo 1
Primary use
Combo 1 is our primary colour combination, and should always be used most predominantly where photography is not being used.
The background uses our primary yellow with a tinted yellow solid and white keyline device.
Example of where to use it: If for example you are creating a poster or brochure cover without photography, this colour combination brings our primary yellow to the for-front.
Combo 2
Secondary use
Combo 2 is one of the secondary colour combinations that are available, and should always be used in more secondary locations.
The background is white allowing for clean space, with a tinted primary blue solid and yellow keyline device.
Example of where to use it: If for example you are creating a brochure, this colour combination can be useful as a graphic asset on internal pages, where that may be a space for a graphic detail.
Combo 3
Secondary use
Combo 3 is also one of the secondary colour combinations that are available, and should always be used in more secondary locations.
The background uses our secondary navy, with a tinted navy solid and yellow keyline device.
Example of where to use it: If for example you are creating a brochure, this colour combination can be useful as a graphic asset on secondary pages, or could be used on a secondary panel of a fold out giving card.
There may be instances where we need to use the navy more prominently, an example of this is in order differentiate between organic social media posts. In these instances please contact design@tearfund.org for advice regarding best practice.
Combo 4
Secondary use for digital, Tearfund Family and international requirements
Combo 4 is also one of the secondary colour combinations that are available, but is only used for two purposes:
- Digital contexts – Available for use on the tearfund.org website and social media, where an additional colour combination is needed for differentiation.
- Tearfund family and international requirements
The background uses our primary blue, with a tinted blue solid and yellow keyline device.
Please contact design@tearfund.org if you should have any questions.
Use with photography
When the brand device is used within photography there is only one colour combination that can be used. Combo 01. The device elements can be placed over the imagery or use cut-outs to interact with the subjects of the photography as shown below.

Where to use them
Primary pages should always use Combo 1 or Combo 2.
Combo 3 is an additional primary option which will come in to play for Tearfund Australia but might also be useful for secondary pages too.
Combo 4 should only be used on secondary pages.
Example 1
Multi-page item/booklet example.
If you are not using photography on a primary page/cover, then you must use the primary colour combination.
Secondary/internal pages can start to use secondary colour combinations.
The visual above demonstrates how combo 1 is used for the first page of a fold out mailing, introducing the brand device with our primary Tearfund yellow. Combo 3 is then used as a background element on the third page where our secondary navy has been used as a background.
Note: You do not have to use the brand device on every secondary page, but it is good to use it as a graphic element throughout to maintain a branded look.
Example 2
Multi-page item/booklet example.
The visual above demonstrates how combo 2 is used as a background element on the second page of a fold out mailing.
Note: You may wish to use photography on the primary/cover page, in which case the guidelines under the section ‘Use with photography’ should be followed, so that our primary yellow device leads.
