Typography

Our primary fonts have been chosen with legibility and accessibility in mind.

Our main body copy font, FS Me was researched and developed with – and endorsed by – Mencap, the UK’s leading charity and voice for those with learning disabilities. Every letter of FS Me was tested for its appeal and readability with a range of learning disability groups.

Calibri is our default font where it isn’t possible to use the brand fonts.

If you are working with Tearfund and require a copy of our fonts, please contact design@tearfund.org

Important note: We don’t use ligatures in any of our fonts, so please make sure to turn this setting off in your design software.

Tearfund Sans – headline font

A bespoke headline font has been developed based on FS Me, called Tearfund Sans. Developed with distinctive elements to provide an ownable lead typeface for use as a headline font. It is intended for use as the title for all communication channels. For accessibility reasons, please do not use uppercase.

FS Me – body font

FS Me is designed specifically to improve legibility for people with learning disabilities and works with Latin-based languages, Cyrillic and Greek. For body copy use the regular weight. Use bold for subheads not uppercase.

Power talks, but love shouts louder. Money counts, but justice matters. Join us – in God’s strength – as we stand up to the people, policies and systems keeping communities trapped in poverty. Gander – complementary font.

Gander is our complementary typeface. This is intended for very minimal use. It is best used for short annotations, short notes or as a small visual variation in a communication piece. It must not be used for long paragraphs or quotations. Consider this to be a potent spice and use it very sparingly.
